Dear Sony: I am interested in one of your products, the SONY DCR-TRV480 Digital8 Handycam(R) Camcorder. Specifically, I would like to now more about certain environmental aspects of this product. Please answer the following questions: 1. Does this product comply with ISO 11469 or DIN 6120 to ensure components are visually marked for recycling? 2. Are the plastic and metal parts of this product easy to separate (e.g., not glued or welded together)? 3. Which of the following materials do the plastic parts of this product contain: lead, cadmium, dicylohexy phthalates, diisobutyl phthalates, Dibutyl phthalates, Benzylbutyl phthalates, diethylhexyphthalates, diisooctal phthalates, diisononyl phthalates, and/or diisodecyl phthalates? 4. Has the manufacturer eliminated brominated or chlorinated flame retardants (BFRs or CFRs) from this product? 5. Does the packaging for this product contain halogenated plastics, such as PVC, or chlorine-based plastics? 6. Do these batteries contain more than trace amounts of lead, cadmium, and/or mercury? 7. What percentage of post-consumer recycled plastic (including packaging) does this product contain? 8. What percent (in weight) of this product's plastic, glass, and metal parts are recyclable? 9. Do you have a recycling or take-back program for this particular product? 10. Do you have one of the following recognized environmental management systems in place: ISO 14001, European EMAS or U.S. EPA Performance Track, and, if so, how was it certified (self or third party)?
